Our Commitment to Privacy

The American Lung Association of Maine is dedicated to protecting the privacy of our online visitors.

Your privacy is important to us. To help protect your privacy we are providing this notice to explain our online information practices. So that this notice is easy to find, we make it available on our home page and on every page where personally identifiable information may be required or requested.

"Donating" to the American Lung Association of Maine: When you donate to the American Lung Association of Maine online you submit highly sensitive credit card information, contact information. We recognize the importance of respecting the integrity of this material and limit access only to authorized personnel. Remember, you can always help maintain the security of your information by keeping your password and other personal identifying information confidential.

You may also choose to make a gift donation. When you make a gift donation, the amount of your gift is shown only on your receipt. The person or family you designate will receive an acknowledgment card in your name. We collect this prospect information in order to honor your request to send an acknowledgement card.

When donors submit their email address, e-communications from the American Lung Association of Maine may occur.

Our Commitment To Data Security To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place appropriate physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online.

If you would like to request access to review, update or change the information you have you have supplied in any way, you may do so by sending ALAME an e-mail. You can correct factual errors in your personally identifiable information by sending us a request the credibly shows error. We use this procedure to better safeguard your information. To protect your privacy and security, we will also take steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections.

Third Party Release Protection Except as provided herein, the American Lung Association of Maine will not sell to any third party your name, address, e-mail address and member name, unless you provide your informed consent, except to the extent necessary to comply with applicable laws, police investigations, or in legal proceedings where such information is relevant. The American Lung Association allows access to database information by third parties providing technical services, such as e-mail. In those instances, the third party is bound by these terms and has agreed to hold this information in confidence. You understand and agree that the American Lung Association of Maine may disclose to third parties your zip code, gender and/or age, but only in the form of aggregated information.

The American Lung Association of Maine reserves the right to terminate your account if it learns that you have provided false or misleading registration information.

Online Surveys: The American Lung Association of Maine will occasionally send electronic surveys. These surveys may sometimes ask for contact information and user profile information like sex, age, education, internet connection, whether a family member has lung disease, area of lung health interest and occupation. We also ask if the visitor has ever donated online, and if so, how much, and whether the visitor has ever done any volunteering in the past year. These questions help us define the needs of our users, volunteers and event participants.

Online "Volunteerism" Submissions: The online form in the Volunteer section of the site requests state, name, mailing address, email address, and a place where you can describe your area of interest. Our privacy policies herein apply to American Lung Association of Maine volunteers.

Signing up for an American Lung Association of Maine Listserv: You may choose to submit your email address to join our e-advocacy or Trek Across Maine listservs.

Children's Online Privacy Act of 1998 Collection and use of information from children in the U.S. under the age of thirteen will be made in compliance with the Children's Online Privacy Act of 1998.

The Online Asthma, Allergy, COPD and Lung Cancer Profiler Tools
The NexProfiler Tools require you to register an email address (to be used as your username) and a password. Disclosing personal information is optional when using these tools. Information provided is subject to NexCura's privacy policy. The American Lung Association® does not have access to the information a user provides to NexCura. The NexCura policy is compliant with the HON Code Principles of the Health on the Net Foundation.
